G is for guilty

G is for guilty.

As in, Mommy is feeling guilty for not being super attentive to this blog and keeping everyone updated on the delicious child that we know and love.

I just haven't been feeling the creative vibe lately.

But, here's a recap of what we've been up to the past couple of weeks:

She's had another major speech explosion and besides her crazy huge vocabulary, she is also speaking in short sentences most of the time. She has also gotten very good with her manners. Even her teachers were impressed when I handed her a book and she said, "thank you mommy" without even needing to be prompted.

Mini Me has been having a fantastic time at school. She is making friends and seems to really enjoy interacting with other children now, as opposed to just playing next to them.

She is also still enjoying Gymboree. We switched her into a smaller class, and she already has a really good friend in there that we also meet at open gym times so they can play together. And, yes, it's a slightly older boy....who is potty trained. (As daddy would say: It's the preschool equivalent to driving a car!)

Last weekend, I asked Mini Me what she wanted to do for the day. After a brief pause, she said, "Museum!" So, since she had actually answered the question with a totally appropriate response, off the the museum we went! She of course got SOAKED playing in the bubble room. The trip did teach mom and dad two very important lessons: 1. Never go to the museum on a Saturday, and 2. set up a designated meeting place. More than once, we got separated (not from Mini Me, but from each other) and it took forever running up and down the 3 floors of the museum looking for each other.

Other than that, we've rearranged the furniture to create a better playroom for the kiddos. And, I've decided to just bite the bullet and we are going to make an attempt at potty training tomorrow! Wish us luck!

S is for Surprise!

S is for Surprise!

On Monday, Mini Me and I took our first solo trip to NY. I wasn't sure what to expect, but overall it went very well. But, we are happy to be home. We missed daddy!

W is for Weather

W is for Weather.

Last Monday, we had several inches of snow. Mini Me's day of fun looked like this:

By Saturday, it had warm up into the 60's and Mini Me's fun looked more like this:

F is for Fear

F is for Fear.

Recently, Mini Me developed a fear of the dark. Fairly normal for her age and easily fixed with the Tykelight, which has been named "glowy".

However, Mini Me is also developing and discovering new fears on an (almost) daily basis. Her imaginary pet dragon is not scary, but the carwash...now that's a scary place.

Poor Mini Me. (And, poor mommy and daddy because our backs are getting sore holding her everytime she proclaims "scary!" and practically climbs up into our arms.)

S is for stats

S is for stats.

As in Mini Me's two year stats.

Here's the low down of her pedi appointment today:

She is 36.5 inches tall, 27 pounds 2 ounces, and doing very well by all accounts. The pediatrician was very happy with her vocabulary and overall social development. She did refer us to a pediatric orthopedist just to check on Mini Me's left foot which tends to turn in and causes her to trip occasionally. But, she said that in her opinion, she would outgrow it and that everything seemed fine structurally.

ini Me was very brave and didn't even cry on the scale this time. Not sure why she has been so freaked out about it the past few appointments, but we seem to have passed that phase.

Oh, and I was very annoyed that I did not have my camera with me because they had her wear one of those little gowns and it had tigers all over it. It was super cute with her little diapered bum hanging out the back. Too funny!
