MIA

Sorry I've been MIA.  We've been busy!  Funny how a simple thing like living in a different location can completely change your lifestyle.

We have found that since the move, we are out and about a lot.  The kids have a TON of activities and I wonder if I'm actually becoming one of those moms who over-schedules the kids.  But, there's just so much to do: Art group, swimming lessons, the gym, the park, the library, story time, clubhouse, bowling, mini golf, splashpark, children's museum, playdates, farmer's markets, outdoor concerts,  blah, blah blah.  Not to mention Mom & Dad's nights out and regular errands.  And, the best part is that most of it is free or extremely cheap.

So, what have we been up to....

Well, Sweet Pea fell down the stairs.  That was...horrifying.  She was perfectly fine, but still.  Worst feeling in the world.  We've been making our summer vacation plans. (yay!)  And, I've been obsessively knitting this sweater.   Mini Me is starting to settle in and be a little more cooperative, and is starting to be open to the idea of riding her bike.  (I'll have to post that story, but the short version is that we bought her a bike several weeks ago and she has since refused to ride it.)

The Big 3-0

::sigh::

I'm turning 30 this year.  And, to celebrate, I'm spending the day at Sesame Place!  LOL  As it so happens, Sesame Place is also celbrating their 30th birthday this year so it's kinda cool, in a really dorky sort of way that probably only I appreciate.

That is all.  Continue on with your day.

Thankful(ly) Thursday

Ahh, it's Thursday.  Here's what I'm thankful for this week:

1.  That I actually remembered to write a Thankful(ly) Thursday post.

2.  That our living room furniture was delivered today!  We FINALLY have a couch to sit on!

3. That my girls are napping right now so that I can finally get to the breakfast dishes and have some time to goof off.

4.  That it's Thursday-and that means Momma's Night Out.  I'll be headed to Starbucks to get my knit on with some very talented local knitters.

What are you thankful for today?

Reason # 637 that I love where I live

There are 3 grocery stores within a half mile of each other, so this week, I went to one I hadn't been in before.  Here's what I love:

4 aisles of alcohol.  LOL

There are 2 aisles of wine, a "warm" beer aisle and a "cold" beer aisle.  Man, I love it here.

My Mondays: Sweatin' with the oldies

I got my butt in gear this morning and made it to the gym.  I dropped the girls off in the nursery and jumped on a treadmill in the cardio room right next door.

Let me just say that I was one of the few people in the entire complex who wasn't using a walker to get around.  Apparently, during the day, there are only seniors and mommies at the gym.  Makes sense I guess, everyone else goes to work.

So, here I am easing back into a running program and McGrannyPants hops on a treadmill next to me...and kicks my butt, folks.  Seriously.  I'm sweating.  I'm huffing and puffing.  Slowly running along, no incline, desperate to get to the half mile mark.  Here's McGrannyPants speed walking up a freakin' hill and not breaking a sweat.  Damn.

The downstairs cardio room faces one of the aerobics studios where a class was going on.  Again, not a person under 60 in the class.  So, as I was struggling through my 1.5 miles today, I watched these little old men and women try to follow this young girl doing a step routine.  Freakin' Hilarious.  They were awesome and I hope that when I'm 60, I'm in better shape than I am now.  But, still.  It was funny watching them trying to follow the routine.

So, that's my Monday.  Oh, and the girls did fine in the nursery and Mini Me said she'd like to go back.  Yay!

Family Fridays

Back in January, we instituted Family Fridays.  Mini Me and I usually bake something yummy during the day, then we make homemade pizza for dinner and we play games, watch a movie, or something like that all together as a family.  It has been lots of fun and a great way for us to all reconnect after a hectic week.

Sweet Pea usually doesn't get to partake in Family Fridays because she is generally asleep not long after dinner at this point.  Except for last night.

We joined a gym here and they have an awesome indoor family pool.  (They also have an awesome outdoor pool, but it's not open yet.)  The only downside is that you have to be 48" tall to go on the water slide, and while Mini Me is tall, she's not there yet.  So, that drives her nuts.

Anyway, I've already written about how Mini Me loves the water.  But, what we were thrilled to find out is that Sweet Pea loves the water just as much.  She looked around tentatively at first and wasn't sure what to make of all the noise and chaos.  I took her over to the fountains and let her touch the water.  She was hooked.  She crawled, she splashed, she floated.  She had a great time.  She didn't mind when the other kids splashed water in her face.  She loved to bounce, to kick.  Pure joy.  For her first time in a pool, she did great.  Even some of the other moms commented on how they couldn't believe comfortable she seemed in the pool.

It was an awesome family night, and an activity I am sure we will participate in again in the coming weeks/months.  I am sad to say I didn't bring my camera, but I'll try to remember for next time.  And, I guess I'll now have 2 kids in swim lessons.
